One person has died in Mexico and the storm is likely to unleash 'catastrophic and life-threatening flooding' in areas bordering California, forecasters say
It killed at least one person in Mexico amid reports of flash flooding in the peninsula sweeping away some roads.San Bernardino county, to the east of Los Angeles, ordered evacuations of towns in the mountains and valleys where social media images showed torrents of water, mud, rock and trees.
Hilary brought floods, mudslides, high winds, power outages and the potential for isolated tornadoes in the region. But Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass still feared that people could let down their guard if Hilary left them initially unharmed but bands of the storm swung back later to surprise those who were not prepared.
