It states that 'the proposals would not protect the character or special interest of Category A-listed buildings' which include the medieval Church of the Holy Rude.
A heritage body has added its voice to objections over an ”eyesore” 65ft mobile phone mast within the heart of historic Stirling.
The objection continues: “The information that has been provided suggests that the proposals would not protect the character or special interest of these Category A-listed buildings.“We understand the important public benefits associated with 5G rollout across the country and would be happy to work with the applicant to try and find a solution.”
HES added: “The buildings are an important part of the historic skyline of this part of the city, characterised by towers, chimneys, and spires. Top of the Town residents had told the Observer last month that the mast location was inappropriate for an area within sight of landmark A-listed buildings including Stirling Highland Hotel, the Tolbooth, the Old Town Jail and the Church of the Holy Rude. However, applicants Clark Telecom Ltd - on behalf of CK Hutchison Networks – had pointed out that the mast and infrastructure would “deliver public benefit in terms of the mobile services it will provide”.
“I accept the need for improved telecommunications, but I believe this location for such a mast is inappropriate.”
