Helen Skelton shocked BBC Radio 5 Live listeners last week by making the bombshell announcement that she’s quitting her role after just one year on air.
Helen broke the unexpected news of her departure from the Sunday mid-morning slot – which she took over from Laura Whitmore last August – while live on air last week. The rugby player, 33 – who is also the father of her sons Ernie, eight, and Louis, six – then dumbfounded fans after quickly setting up home and having another child with new flame Stephanie Thirkill.
"She’s going to spend the remainder of her year focusing on being at home with her children and giving them a happy, fun-filled upbringing." "She hates the idea of the events of the last year or so having an effect on her little ones," they said. "So, she wants to make the transition into co-parenthood as smooth as possible."
