Helen McCrory 'wanted to be very private about her illness'
Helen McCrory made her friends swear to secrecy as she privately battled cancer before her tragic death, a friend has said.
Now, her theatre director friend Carrie Cracknell has revealed how Helen continued her charity work until just a few weeks before her death and refused to let her illness overshadow her family and personal life. “Very few people knew, and I only did because we were planning to transfer a show to Broadway and had to cancel that because she was having treatment. We were sworn to secrecy.
It comes as Helen’s husband Damian shared a touching personal tribute to his late wife following her death. He went on: “I’ve never known anyone so consciously spread happiness. To say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ and ‘you’re so kind’ as much as she did.
