Week 10 wasn't the best for Heisman frontrunners. So after Hendon Hooker and C.J. Stroud's subpar Saturdays, where does the Heisman race stand? TheAthleticCFB staff conducts their straw poll:
Stroud entered this season as the Heisman favorite, and he has mostly held steady throughout the Buckeyes’ 9-0 start, though Hooker. Stroud is back in the pole position this week, however, getting +175 odds from BetMGM to Hooker’s +300 after the Volunteers’ perfect season came to an end in Athens.
This comes on the heels of a very uneven showing from Stroud and the Ohio State offense this past Saturday at Northwestern. Stroud had a career-worst day in terms of completion percentage , passing yards and quarterback rating . It was also the first game of his career in which he did not throw a touchdown pass.
Stroud did rush for a career-high 79 yards — he had negative-4 rushing yards this season before Saturday — and, most important, did not turn the ball over in a 21-7 win. The conditions were awful, and Stroud certainly was not helped by a number of drops from his receivers.
