But when she becomes involved with Tombo – a boy obsessed with flying who admires her talents on the broomstick – she experiences a depression, and discovers she can no longer speak to Jiji. This is a smaller-scale Ghibli movie that deals with themes of coming-of-age in a characteristically gentle, spellbinding way.The titular Porco is an Italian veteran of the First World War who’s cursed to have a pig’s head.
