John Munro and his wife Hellen are among a number of families who took out a plan with McLeans Funeral Services - who are now no longer in business
The heartbroken family of a Glasgow pensioner who died suddenly after Christmas have been forced to fork out the bill for his funeral after the pre-paid plan he took out with his local funeral service wasn't processed by the firm.
Laura said: "Both John and Hellen had taken out funeral plans in 2017 and 2018 and paid for them in cash. They were given receipts and a completed application form by McLeans to confirm the transaction. They took the plan out in good faith thinking that everything would be covered in the event of their deaths.
"Hellen is severely disabled and currently lives in a care home and the sad reality is that she could pass away soon too with her plan also nowhere to be found. McLeans Funeral Services appears as 'permanently closed' online with the website and phone number both uncontactable. The shop has also been closed for a number of months.
