The strikes would only affect England, with disputes in Wales and Scotland having been resolved.
Leaked reports suggested the STRB has recommended that teachers should receive a 6.5 per cent pay increase for 2023/24 – a significant improvement onover the next academic year. Mr Kebede said doing so would risk a coordinated backlash across the public sector, in a move that could see the UK edge closer to the country’s first general strike in almost 100 years.
“There’s been a broad attack on the public sector and on public services – the very fabric of our society, the things that our communities rely on,” he said.
