Commemorations took place in George Square today.

Glasgow’s Lord Provost said she was grateful for a ‘great turnout’ as the people of Glasgow gathered in George Square to mark Remembrance Sunday.

Ms McLaren said it was her ‘privilege’ to Take the Salute, adding: “Reflecting on those lost in conflict and those affected by war this Remembrance Sunday in Glasgow's George Square. They have our gratitude.” Members of the three branches of the Armed Forces marched down the Royal Mile before a short service took place outside the city chambers, led by Rev Calum MacLeod.

Ahead of the event, the First Minister said it was important to remember those who made the"ultimate sacrifice" to secure freedom.
