Glasgow City Council has written to parents ahead of the strike on Wednesday, November 1.

Schools across Glasgow are to close next week as support staff go on strike following a pay dispute.

Unison Scotland's local government committee met on Thursday morning and voted unanimously to reject Cosla's revised offer outright, saying it represents an increase on the previous offer of only 0.17 per cent.

"The strike involves a high percentage of our Education Services staff and will includesupport for learning workers, escorts, administration staff, catering, janitorial, cleaningservices and school crossing patrollers. "I hope you understand our position and why we must close most of our provision for the planned industrial action. Updates will be posted on the council’s communication channels ahead of the dates and any local arrangements communicated by the school or nursery."
