A 51-year-old man has been charged after an assault close to Homeless Project Scotland's soup kitchen on Tuesday night. The 62-year-old was driving a delivery van at the time.
The Greencore employee was driving under the Hielanman's Umbrella around 9.40pm on Tuesday before the assault took place.
Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 9.40pm on Tuesday, 29 August, 2023, we were called to a report of an assault on a 62-year-old man in Argyle Street, Glasgow."A 51-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal." A spokesperson for Greencore said: “We are aware of this incident and are investigating the matter internally with the driver concerned.”
We reported on Tuesday how a senior member of staff at Glasgow City Council had been arrested and charged in connection with an assault on Homeless Project Scotland volunteers at the same location earlier in the month.Two volunteers were attacked in July with one allegedly assaulted by a passerby while serving food and another scalded by hot soup.
