Melody Maker described them as 'the best Scottish pop band since Orange Juice'

The enigmatic outfit - Ronnie Borland, James Hackett, Chris Quinn, John Scally and Keith Sharp, with Ian Carmichael, Pauline Hynds Bari and Paul Quinn - released some of the finest pop songs of their generation after growing out of humble beginnings in Penilee, where the three founder members grew up and started the band in 1986.

Their first six singles and three albums were met with widespread critical acclaim in the UK and abroad andDreaming Kind is the band’s first new album since September 2017, when they published a retrospective of 20 ‘best of’ songs to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their first physical release , plus an 18-track rarities disc. Entitled Who Needs Tomorrow... A 30 Year Retrospective, it came out on Cherry Red Records.

At the gig in The Glad Cafe in Glasgow, The Orchids will be supported by GNAC. The band will also play London, at 229 Great Portland Street, on October 21.
