Huge queues and missed flights have been reported at Glasgow Airport due to an ongoing 'national incident'. Travellers have said police officers are checking ID's after security.
Passengers travelling through Glasgow Airport are facing major delays due to a 'national incident' which is believed to involve the police 'looking for someone'.
Several travellers have reported that police officers are checking the ID's of people who have already gone through security. Huge queues have been forming as a result with some members of the public no longer being allowed into the building due to it being 'at capacity', reports the Daily Record. An announcement was made over the tannoy telling passengers that the delays were being caused by a 'national incident'. One passenger told Glasgow Live that he had been stuck in the queue from 12.50pm with the queue 'not moving for an hour'.He added: "I missed my flight to Southampton, and I'm still not through security. Priority security not moving either. We've been told that "additional security checks have been introduced due to an ongoing national incident.
Glasgow resident Marie-Louise Burnman added: "The airport have now started making tannoy announcements saying the disruption is due to a ‘national incident’ and police are checking every ID after you have gone through security/before you go into departure gates. "I am now through and waiting for my flight thank goodness. Departures is very quiet as so few people have seemingly made it through so far due to security backlog."
