Lily-Mae West spent a week in hospital before doctors determined the severity of her brain injury
A schoolgirl suffered a brain injury and 15 broken bones after being knocked over by a zorbing ball while on holiday.
"It didn’t seem real. It felt like I was watching what was happening from a distance. I remember when they put her to sleep, she’d occasionally wake up, frightened and scared, and would grab the tubes."She had tears running down her face. It was awful. As a parent you never imagine anything like this happening."
"Badly bruised, with ‘Panda eyes’, and some fluid had leaked from the brain. Her brain injury isn’t severe, but we’ve noticed her behaviours have changed."She gets upset. She’s not as confident as she used to be." Katie said she received support from charity Day One Trauma Support, which gives patients and families support following major trauma.
"Day One gave me financial advice about grants and benefits to help take the pressure off. We couldn’t have done it on our own." "That’s why I want to do something to help other children and Day One that was there for my mum and dad."
