We tried an Accrington café's Full English where the bacon is cooked exactly how you like it
Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to a Full English Breakfast. So it's no wonder that many cafés will offer the option of swapping sausages for extra bacon or the choice of fried, scrambled or poached eggs.
I was taken aback. Because, as someone who can't stand flabby bacon fat and always ensures it's beyond crispy when I cook it at home, I was delighted to be asked what my preference was. As a big fan of crispy rashers I was mightily impressed and it's probably the only time I've ever been asked how I'd like my bacon to be cooked.
For £8.20 my Full English Breakfast included two pieces of toast, beans, a fried egg, two sausages, tomato, black pudding, mushrooms and two hash browns. With a can of Sprite to wash it down, and given the packed plate, you definitely get good value for money. The hash browns were wonderfully crunchy and it was a bit of a throwback moment to see a full plum tomato rather than the chopped variety you tend to get served with breakfast these days.
