Campaign groups and communities have been invited to explain to Scottish Ministers why their bid should be the winner
The long-running selection process to designate a new national park in Scotland has moved to the next stage – with Galloway a strong contender.
Now that the starting gun has been fired, The Galloway National Park Association will gather together six years of work to present its case. “It will also open up a wonderful, and economically fragile area in the south of Scotland to sustainable regeneration through tourism and other business development while protecting some of the country’s most beautiful countryside for the future.” The GNPA has had conversations with almost 2,000 people at more than 100 meetings and events across the area resulting, it says, in “resounding” positive feedback.
“Support is growing all the time with increasing numbers of people becoming GNPA members or signing up as business champions.”
