The three bedroom property on Lynncroft, Eastwood, was lived in by the Sons and Lovers writer for a number of years
The future of a Nottinghamshire home where novelist D.H. Lawrence lived for years will soon be decided. The three-bedroom property in Lynncroft, Eastwood, was lived in by the Sons and Lovers writer for a number of years, but now council officers have advised Broxtowe Borough Council to approve an extension to the property so it can be used as a six-bed house in multiple occupation .
During the auction, the auctioneer described the property as "the one lots of people have been waiting for" and explained that the auction house had been "blissfully unaware" of its history until a local historian got in touch. The house built on the steep hillside of Lynncroft was the fourth Lawrence family home in Eastwood.
In a planning document, agent ARC, on behalf of applicant Nabeel Ahmed, said: "Should this go to committee then the committee are reminded that the HMO element cannot be taken into account as a material consideration so elements such as parking etc cannot be considered over and above the requirements of a dwelling.
