An outburst of anger and disappointment has followed
Northamptonshire MP Dame Andrea Leadsom has been branded "vile" and "disgusting" on Twitter after she retweeted an image of singer Sam Smith appearing to mock the performer's non-binary gender. Some have even called on the Prime Minister to consider whether Ms Leadsom's actions are "appropriate."
The tweet, which has been viewed over 30k times, has received 57 comments, most of which expressing disappointment at Ms Leadsom. One commented: "To think you would have been an ex-Prime Minister today if things turned out differently..." Another added "And you think that's funny....disgusting given your role as MP." One even tagged PM Rishi Sunak in asking: "As an MP you really should delete this tweet. It is inappropriate for an MP . @Conservatives @RishiSunak do you think this is appropriate from a Conservative MP?"
