A number of shops have already closed
Iceland has become the latest retailer to reduce its stores in the UK. The supermarket will be closing five sites over the summer as it shortens its portfolio.
This will mark the 13th Iceland branch to shut down due to "local shopping patterns" changing and expired shop leases. A further three branches set to close stores in Llanelli, Wales, and the Market Shopping Centre, Crewe. reports The Daily Express. However, despite these closures, some people may see new Iceland stores open up near them later in the year. Whilst some stores closed due to expiring leases, Iceland hopes to replace a handful of these.
Customers in Aberdeen, Scotland, also welcomed a new site in June, but this wasn't a traditional Iceland store. The company opened an Iceland Food Warehouse in Berryden Road, northwest of Aberdeen city centre.
