Many people had travelled from across the country to witness the famous illumination switch-on event
One of the biggest events in the town's calendar, the Blackpool Illuminations went off with a bang last Friday.
However, mum Ali says that nowadays "people can't afford" to go take trips and visit places like Blackpool. Her daughter, Grace added: "I think it's the cost of living crisis. Mick said: "We Googled what was going on around the area and we had always said we'd like to get there [Blackpool] and see the switch-on. We were never off work at the right time."
She added: "I've brought my grandson this time and it's ended the summer holidays nicely." Ellis was most excited for the fireworks and the atmosphere for the whole event to be hosted outside for the first time in a number of years.
