Booking is now open
Children living in the Wyre can enjoy swimming, arts, football and more for free during the Christmas holidays.
Bookings have opened for Wyre Borough Council’s popular Holiday Activity and Food Clubs this Christmas - a programme of free activities for children on benefits-related free school meals. The holiday clubs are part of the Government’s Holiday Activities and Food programme , set up to provide children and young people with fun activities to enjoy with friends, the chance to develop new skills and enjoy a healthy lunch in the holidays.
A range of clubs is being hosted throughout the Christmas school holidays by providers across the borough and include a variety of fun activities alongside a nutritious meal each day. Activities on offer include swimming, arts and crafts, bowling, dance, netball, football, boxing and more. It is the fifth programme the council has offered following sessions across summer, Christmas and Easter since 2021.
Councillor Lynne Bowen, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Health and Community Engagement at Wyre Council, said: “We’re really pleased to be working with our partners again to provide a variety of fun clubs over the holidays to keep kids active, social and to also provide a free meal. The clubs proved really popular in summer with over 400 children attending over 3000 sessions and we hope the Christmas clubs are just as helpful to families on free school meals.
"There are clubs in different locations for different age groups so if you haven’t been before, do take a look at our website to see what’s on offer.” See what’s on and book your place here.
