Fourth Covid wave and up to 60,000 flu deaths could leave NHS facing ‘worst winter EVER’, experts warn
A possible 40,000 children could be hospitalised with RSV, compared to a typical 20,000.

The surge in flu and RSV could coincide with the third wave of Covid, which is expected to peak in the late summer but could come later when schools reopen., with co-infection of more than one virus also possible.Modelling by Academy of Medical Sciences, which largely matches that of Government scientific advisers, shows the third Covid wave is likely to peak in late August . But it could be delayed into autumn when schools that were shut over the summer then reopen.
