The Factory Kitchen in Ilkeston closed in June last year
A former 'Restaurant of the Year' could be turned into a children's nursery under new plans. Proposals have been submitted to Erewash Borough Council for the former The Factory Kitchen, on Mundy Street, Ilkeston, to become a brand new children’s nursery.
The 60-seater restaurant opened in 2017 and served fine dining food in the evenings, plus top-quality breakfasts and lunch. After being closed for over a year, the site could see a new nursery that takes a blended approach using Montessori, Hygge, Reggio, and Forest School.“That used to be such a nice place to go and have something to eat,” said Anna Davenport-Brown, 41, owner of The Aesthetics and Beauty Co in Ilkeston.
“It was one of these places that served quite modern food. It was a really nice modern place to go, somewhere a little bit different. The food that they served was high quality. Danny Tomlin, who is a dad from Ilkeston, explained that it would be a convenient location for him to take his young daughter. He said: “I think it would be good. Where we go at the minute is at Kirk Hallam but this would be closer. It’s right next door, it’s very close and easy access.”
