Former Liverpool winger Ryan Babel has labelled Ryan Gravenberch as a player with world-class potential.
Babel and Gravenberch briefly became teammates in Amsterdam during the 2019/20 campaign as the young midfielder enjoyed a breakthrough season. Giving his verdict on what Gravenberch will bring to Liverpool’s midfield, Babel described the Netherlands international as a box-to-box player and warned against restricting him to a defensive role.
Gravenberch clocked up over 100 appearances for Ajax, despite leaving just a month after his 20th birthday, but it quickly became apparent that he was ill-suited to Bayern’s formation, leading his stock to fall. Arriving at Liverpool, the young midfielder has an opportunity to revive his burgeoning career.
“He is talented and has a big potential to become world-class but it’s Liverpool’s job to help him develop and reach his full potential.”
