Cases of fly-tipping having risen across West Lothian, despite hopes that the first year since the covid pandemic would lead to a drop.And the council is now set to launch a new campaign to try and deter people from illegally dumping their waste.
A total of 57.36 tonnes of fly-tipped rubbish was collected this year at a cost to the council of £37, 798.52. This was an increase on the 2022 figures of 54.58 tonnes lifted at a cost of £35,950.61. "Whilst the reports are increasing it's not materials that I would expect to see going to the CRC sites, its of a commercial scale that's come the back of large vans or pick-ups in terms of the scale of dumping," Mr Johnston told councillors in Linlithgow at their monthly local area committee.
