The houses would be built on the site of a former school
Neighbours say they continue to have concerns over plans for 104 houses on an Eastwood site which was often a "quagmire" due to flooding after a decision on the project was delayed. Broxtowe Borough Council says the plans are now not likely to be discussed before September after deferring the matter at a recent meeting.
Also raising concerns around flooding was Gordon Kemp, in his eighties, who has lived in the area for 50 years. He said: "It's a flood plain. It comes off the fields and floods into the grates, so it will be bad." "You don't expect that to carry on for the rest of your life. People do need housing and so I don't have a problem with developments. But I do understand there are some issues with a lack of privacy."
A spokesperson for Avant Homes previously said: "The principle of residential development on this site has already been established by the allocation of the site in the Local Plan. I am delighted that there are no outstanding objections to the proposed scheme from statutory consultees covering policy and technical matters, concluding that the scheme is acceptable in planning terms."
