Police stopped a car allegedly taking Just Stop Oil activists to a demo – but could not prevent protesters halting M25 traffic for a fourth day in a row.
But demos went ahead at eight junctions and along the A10 – heaping misery on commuters driving to work to beat a strike by Tube workers. Some protesters taking part had previously been arrested, it emerged.
They included Phoebe Plummer, 21, currently on bail for throwing soup on a £76million Van Gogh painting at the National Gallery. She said she was protesting on a gantry because ‘we are hurtling towards climate catastrophe’.Also there was Diane Heckt, 68, who was handed a 25-day suspended jail sentence after a demo at Kingsbury Oil Terminal, Staffordshire, in September.Text the word VIEWS followed by your comment, name and where you live to 65700.
