Motorists are being warned as they could be putting lives at risk
All drivers have been hit with a warning as they could be putting themselves and other road users at risk without realising.
And the true figures are likely higher, with experts estimating that fatigue-related crashes may account for up to 20% of all UK vehicle collisions, and 25% of fatal and serious crashes.Julia Eyton from Fletchers Group has shared some steps motorists can take to keep themselves and other road users safe with the ECHO.“According to Brake, research has found that driving deteriorates after two hours of continuous driving, as you become less able to concentrate, and slower to react to hazards.
"Be sure to check with your doctor in advance to see whether your medication is likely to affect your ability to drive.”“According to Brake, most sleep-related crashes happen on motorways or dual carriageways. This could be attributed to the monotonous road environment and a lack of driver stimulation. If you suspect you may be starting to get tired, stop at your nearest services and take a 20 minute nap.
