Traffic has been halted on the southbound carriageway
Traffic has been stopped on the M6 between Lancaster and Preston.
Emergency services have been sent to the southbound stretch of the motorway to respond to a vehicle fire. That has caused a complete stop of traffic between junctions 33 and 32 with delays already running to 30 minutes. Drivers are being warned to allow extra travel time as a result. A spokesperson for Highways North West said: "Traffic is currently stopped on the #M6 southbound between J33 #Lancaster and J32 #Preston due to a vehicle fire."Fire service are currently on scene. Please allow extra time if travelling in the area as there are currently delays of 30 mins."
