Roads across Wirral are closed as heavy rain causes flooding
A Fiat 500 driver and passenger had to call in help to get their car out of a flooded Wirral road this afternoon.
The storm, which is the second named storm of the season, arrived this week bringing strong winds and heavy rain. A red warning for rain covers parts of the east of Scotland, but elsewhere, including Merseyside, most of England has been hit with yellow warnings.Impacts highlighted as part of the warnings include is a danger to life from flood water, extensive flooding to homes and businesses and severely disrupted travel conditions.
A spokesperson for Merseyrail has said: "We advise passengers to only travel if necessary." Arriva North West has also diverted some services, a spokesperson said: "Service 487 is diverting via Willaston Road, Quarry Road, Chester High Road and Liverpool Road due to Neston Road in Thornton Hough due to localised flooding."
