“She does not have the same cultural cache in Japan because they are so many other people like her there,” she said, adding that Kondo has been criticised in Japan for the pseudo-spiritual aspects of her brand. Attitudes to Konmarie, as Ms Kondo is know in Japan, can be dismissive said Asako Gemma who works in PR in Tokyo.
