Residents are fearful parking will become more of a struggle

Residents are nervous about a newly approved 36-home development in Nottingham, as they say the on-street parking in the area is already 'ridiculous'. The site in Lenton has been sitting vacant for around 10 years and, while many have welcomed the plan to use the land, fears remain over the parking situation.

The homes will be situated between Harley Street, Willoughby Street and Mettham Street, north of Prospect Place, and constructed for the Nottingham Housing Association. The scheme was approved at a planning meeting on September 21, with six councillors voting for the plans and two abstaining. The abstentions came due to concerns over parking.

"It's an absolute nightmare, the only time I bring my car round here is when I've been shopping. The land wants something doing with it, maybe they should build a big car park." Ahmed Gavir, 52, who also lives in Harley Street, said: "I'm not against the houses if they have their own parking spaces." And Kelsi McNeil, a 20-year-old student, added: "I don't drive but I can see it gets busy on these roads."
