Leeds United expect Djed Spence to miss the next eight weeks of the season after picking up a knee issue
There’s no doubt about it, Djed Spence being ruled out until November comes as a blow for Leeds United. He’s only made one substitute appearance for the Whites since joining on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in the final days of the transfer window.
But, at the age of 32, Ayling is starting to see limitations creep into his game. The right-back doesn’t get up and down the flank as well as he used to, with Leeds finding themselves exploited down Ayling’s side on a host of occasions during the opening few weeks. Sam Byram is the only other natural senior right-back in the squad and ordinarily, he would be considered an option. However, the former Norwich City man is currently nailing down the left-back spot and given his performances, Farke would be reluctant to make that change.
Archie Gray has spent a small amount of time in the role, too, during his time in the U21s set-up. Again, though, Farke probably wouldn’t be spending too much time considering the 17-year-old as a viable right-back option in the event of rotation.
