Mum and teen daughter forced to sleep on floor with strangers were still flown out to Rhodes despite frantic evacuations
A mum and her teenage daughter who were still flown out to Rhodes despite hotels across the island being evacuated were then forced to sleep on a floor with strangers in a conference room.
After driving around for some time, and then told they may possibly have to sleep on a ship at the harbour, she claims customers were taken to a completely different hotel near Kallithea and shown a conference room with mattresses on the floor. "They said they were going to put us on cruise ships at the harbour due to issues near the hotel. We went towards the harbour and the poor guy driving the shuttle bus had no idea what to do with us. It was all very stressful, we got off at the harbour and were given some water and food and then they told us to get back on again.
A frustrated Carol, who had already forked out over £2,800 for the week-long stay with her daughter at the Mitsis Rodos Maris Resort, in Kiotari, was sent a message from other holidaymakers staying just a few miles away in Laerma, who had been sent an urgent message to evacuate the area a day before she arrived.
Loveholidays had also contacted their customers with holiday bookings in Lindos, Lardos, Kiotari and Pefkos areas to cancel their bookings at around 6.30pm on the Saturday night - but Carol and her daughter had already left the runway at Manchester. Loveholidays said says that customers remain their 'top priority' and that they are 'working hard to support customers' in Rhodes, who can contact them on a 24-hour helpline.
