Neil Bray fell only discovered he was the victim of a fake villa scam when he arrived in Alicante to find the promised airport pick up wasn't there and his calls, emails and text went unanswered.
A family going on their first holiday in 11 years fell victim to a fake villa scam - after arriving at their destination to discover the property didn't exist.
Dad-of-four Neil reached out to the advertiser and even had a phone call to discuss dates and availability.After being satisfied with the response, Neil transferred over Euro 180 via TransferGo as a deposit - and we're told they'd pay the rest on arrival.Neil, his wife, Hannah, 38, a support worker, and their four children - Nikolas, 17, Felicity, 15, Leyton, nine, and Bella, eight - set off on their summer holiday on July 24.
The family had to fork out Euro 2,800 for a new villa and Euro 125 on travel - with a further Euro 325 spent on a hire car. He said: "We booked the villa for 11 nights and then my sister, NAME, AGE, booked a further two weeks from August 4th. The family then set off for their first holiday in 11 years on July 24, 2023 - flying from Gatwick to Alicante.
