Volunteers said they were 'lost for words'
A foodbank in Nottinghamshire was forced to close after damage was caused to a garage, resulting in dozens of families missing out on much-needed meals. Volunteers running Brinsley Food Bank said they were "lost for words" when they found the garage used to store food in the village had been damaged on Wednesday, October 18.
"They damaged the shutter door and all the screws had been removed apart from two at the top. A red metal pole was found close to the garage on Sunday," she said."I was lost for words, I couldn't believe it. We are a close community in Brinsley, to think that someone would be so spiteful. It's frustrating that it's all there but we can't get to it."
"It was either vandals or somebody trying to get in to get the food," she continued. "We serve between 20 and 25 families each week, so all they've been able to get is fresh stuff like bread and vegetables." "They couldn't believe it, they couldn't believe that someone would do that. Whether it's malicious or not, it's amazing that someone would want to do."
