Blackburn 'eyesore' extension row as neighbours left hating new porch
A Blackburn householder’s controversial plans build new porch, boundary wall and single-storey rear extension have been approved.
Neighbours were angered when Majid Anwar has already started the works at the back of his home in Chestnut Gardens, Bastwell. His scheme provoked objections from four nearby householders worried about loss of light, privacy and the potential reductions in value of their houses.Blackburn with Darwen Council’s planning committee on Thursday night granted Mr Anwar backdated permission for the works.
Following concerns from neighbours and advice from planning officers Mr Anwar had agreed to reduce the size of his new front porch. He needed backdated permission for the new wall he has already built and the start of work on the extension and rear garden.Objector Hira Tahir, who also lives on Chestnut Gardens, told the council: “The new wall is a big eyesore in this area, as it is very high compared to others in the area.
