Temperatures could reach as high as 44C
Brits heading to Spain this week have been warned of extreme weather conditions as the country faces a blistering heatwave. Extreme weather warnings are in place as temperatures in some areas could soar as high as 44C.
AEMET has also issued ‘important risk’ alerts for regions across the south of Spain, including Sevilla where temperatures could reach 42C. Amber warnings area also in place for parts of Majorca, which could experience a high of 39C. Yellow ‘risk’ alerts are in place for several areas, including Alicante, which could see a high of 36C, and Valencia where temperatures could rise to 38C.
Regarding extreme weather in Spain, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office advises travellers to take care when visiting or travelling through woodland areas due to the risk of forest fires. It says: "Causing a forest fire is a criminal offence in Spain, even if unintentional.
