Residents were woken by a bang at around 8:35, Friday, September 22.

The bang allegedly happened at JR Adam on George V Dock on Renfrew Road at around 8:35, Friday, September 22.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear at this stage but Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said they had not been called out. An image from the scene shows smoke billowing into the skyline close to a recycling plant behind the River Clyde.He explained: "The noise from the explosion was very loud, even from my flat one mile away.

"It must have been deafening for those on the site. I've heard similar noises from there before so it seems really dangerous business."JR Adam has been contacted for comment.
