Europe heatwave: Evacuations ordered for parts of Corfu due to wildfires
Greece’s Emergency Communications Service has ordered the evacuations for people in Santa, Megoula, Porta, Palia Perithia, and Sinies – advising them to head to Kasiopi – and people in Rou, Katavolo, Kentroma, Tritsi, Kokokila, Sarakiniatika, Plagia, Kalami, Vlachatika and Kavalerena are being advised to evacuate now to Ipsos.
Thousands of tourists and residents have fled the Greek Island of Rhodes on Sunday, taking refuge in schools and shelters. Many have been evacuated on private boats as flames threatened resorts and coastal villages.
