BREAKING: EU launches legal action against Hungary and Poland for anti-gay discrimination
The European Commission is launching legal action against Hungary and Poland’s governments over policies it says have discriminated against LGBT+ people.
The move comes after tensions between Germany and other European nations at Hungary, where new laws were brought in banning gay people from appearing in educational material for under-18s. The issue has become divisive in Poland in recent years under the governing Law and Justice party, which campaigns against so-called ‘LGBT ideology’, likening the promotion of gay rights to a form of communism.
