Households are being urged to take the precautions to protect themselves in case blackouts do end up happening
It was recently announced the UK may be facing a series of planned blackouts this winter, to combat a shortage of gas.
Speaking at the Financial Times Energy Transition summit, National Grid head John Pettigrew warned they may have to impose the blackouts in January and February. Ben Price, co-founder at heating and energy company Heatable provided the following advice: "For those without a fireplace, the next best option is a portable propane heater, perfectly suited for emergency situations like a temporary blackout protocol, as the National Gridhave referenced.
Aside from buying a propane heater, there are a couple of other ways that we can stay warm during the blackouts if they happen. Jennifer Warren, spokesperson at Energyguide.org.uk spokesperson also added: "Most importantly ensure you wear a hat, gloves and a scarf, this is especially important when you consider that between 40-45 percent of body heat is lost through the head and neck.
