Emmerdale star Jonny McPherson used past grief to film Liam Cavanagh scenes
Emmerdale's Liam Cavanagh star Jonny McPherson has revealed that he used past personal grief to film emotional scenes for the ITV soap.
Talking about the heartbreaking storyline, Jonny revealed on Monday's Loose Women that he wanted to do the emotional scenes "justice" and while he could not relate to losing a child, he drew on the "emotional turmoil" of his father's sudden death 12 years ago. "The closest I could get to really is my dad died about 12 years ago, and he died quite suddenly in intensive care, and I remember I had to see him when he was dead and it was quite a shock.
Reflecting on the heartbreaking storyline and working with Mimi, who played his onscreen daughter Leanna, he added: "I think it is arguably the worst thing to possibly happen to a human in life, losing your 18-year-old daughter, his only child, on her birthday after her mother has also passed. I mean it is just unimaginably awful.
Leanna was brutally murdered on the humpback bridge by Meena Jutla in one of last week's episodes of Emmerdale.
