Cindy Beale is returning to Walford after previously being 'killed' off-screen in 1998.
Michelle Collins has given fans an insight into her highly anticipated return to EastEnders as Cindy Beale after a 25-year break.
It turns out she had been put into witness protection after an incident in jail and assumed the name Rose. Actress Michelle has teased that while Cindy has changed a lot over the last two decades, she still has her evil streak which cemented her as a soap icon in the 1990s. "Cindy has been through a lot in her life. She’s been away for 25 years. To go through, if we look at it properly and be serious about it, things that have happened in her life,’ Michelle told Metro.
"But I think she also has a side to her that was lacking when she was younger, maybe a bit more empathy than she had before. She’s kind of a bit older and wiser… I don’t know about the wiser bit. I suppose a little bit like I am, in a sense."
