Health and social care services are under increasing pressure
East Renfrewshire’s health and social care services are facing a potential shortfall of between £10 million and £21 million over the next five years as funding pressures mount.
Modelling of lower level cost pressures shows a possible funding gap of £2.25 million in 2024 to 2025, and a cumulative shortfall of £10.7million between 2024 and 2027 to 2028. She added the forecasts come with the “caveat” that the “ultimate funding gap and the amount of savings we would need to find in any one year will be dependent on the settlement from the Scottish Government.”
The report said: “As the youngest and oldest members of our society tend to be the biggest users of universal health and care services this means we have a relatively unique challenge in planning our services and ensuring we meet national outcomes.” The official said that was “music to my ears in terms of refreshing this discussion”, and she would “welcome as much discussion with partners as we can have.”
