Two separate alerts in east Belfast are now over, police say.
Two security alerts in east Belfast are now over following separate discoveries of suspicious objects, police say.of the city, close to Dee Street and Mersey Street on Friday afternoon.Police remain in the area as investigations continue.
The operation surrounding the second alert took place near the Skainos Centre on the Newtownards Road, in which several charities and community groups are based. Residents of an apartment block within the police cordon were evacuated, with bomb disposal officers and robotic equipment working at the scene.
"Most cordons have been removed with all evacuated residents being advised they can return to their homes," the PSNI said in a statement on Saturday.
