'This is an absolute catastrophic disaster in terms of data handling'
DUP MP Ian Paisley is seeking a recall of Parliament from its summer recess to discuss the PSNI data breach scandal.
Details also emerged on Wednesday of another data breach involving the theft of documents and a laptop from a car in Newtownabbey in July.Dissident republicans claim to be in possession of information circulating on WhatsApp following the leak, PSNI Chief Constable Simon Byrne has said. Mr Paisley told the BBC's Nolan Show he has asked the Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle to consider recalling Parliament to debate the data breach controversy."Our police service can't afford now to deal with the outworking of this. Compensation claims undoubtedly will come in.
The MP said recalling Parliament would help give the public "reassurance" and "point to ways in which this could be resolved".
