The Standards Commissioner had to step in
A DUP councillor ordered to apologise for ‘liking’ a homophobic and anti-transgender response to an Alliance’s MLA tweet, made his Twitter account private before posting the ‘public statement’.
Former Upper Bann MLA, Andrew Moutray, got into trouble with the Standards Commissioner over liking the post and was told to apologise. “I ‘liked’ this tweet in reference to the contents of the graphic, and not in respect of the caption above it. The DUP has faced repeated criticism down through the years over LGBT hostilities including party founder Ian Paisley’s ‘Save Ulster from Sodomy’ campaign in the 70s.
