They appeared in court today

Ryan Nuttall and Malik Hussain will face a Preston Crown Court trial after pleading not guilty to three counts of kidnapping and one count of assaulting one of the victims. Nuttall, 31, also entered a not guilty plea to an offence of aggravated vehicle taking.

The pair appeared for a brief hearing at court on Tuesday , with Hussain, 20, in the dock and Nuttall attending via video link from HMP Preston. They spoke only to confirm their names and enter pleas which related to an incident on September 11 in which three people were reportedly kidnapped. On that date, Kevin Chapman, Emma Waterworth and Neil Gibb are said to have been taken against their will from a location in Chorley, with the alleged incident ending in Leyland.

After the pair entered their pleas, Recorder Daniel Prowse set a date for the trial, which is expected to last at least three days, starting March 6 next year. Hussain, of Olive Close, Whittle-le-Woods, was granted continued bail while Nuttall, of Withy Grove Crescent, Bamber Bridge, remained in custody but is expected to soon make his own bail application.

In a statement made the day after the reported incident, a Lancashire Constabulary spokesperson said: “We were called to Whittle-le-Woods at 7.50am on Sunday to reports that three people had been kidnapped from outside an address in Leyland.
