Motorists have been asked to avoid the area

Part of a road in a Nottinghamshire village near Newark has partially collapsed following the impact of Storm Babet. On Monday, October 23, it was reported at around 9am part of the road on Carlton Ferry Lane, Collingham, had collapsed.

due to this as there is a steep drop on the road. There is also flowing water across the road and surrounding area following the heavy rain of the storm. A flood warning is still in place for Collingham, as river levels have risen at the Torksey river gauge due to the storm. River levels are expected to remain high throughout the rest of today and further rainfall is expected on Tuesday, October 24.

The flood warning area for Collingham is currently for the River Trent at Collingham including Ferry Lane Farm, Westfield Farm and Wharf Bungalow area. The collapsed road has been reported to Via East Midlands, and the road closure has been confirmed by Nottinghamshire County Council. Other closures in the area include Hawton Road in Newark, the A617 at Kelham and Trent Lane in Newark. Drivers are asked to take care whilst travelling due to the impact from the storm over the weekend.
